In case some of you don't know, many places have street views on Google Earth. For example, before my trip to Paris I was able to Google the street and then check out my neighborhood. It was great to already be a little familiar with the area and I knew exactly which way to go from the metro stop to get to my apartment. Small towns probably don't have this yet, but most large cities most likely do. I was checking out Google Earth today and started thinking that some people might not be aware of this. Happy Travels!
You can also embed Street View windows in your post:

Maybe you can Michael, but I'm not that computer savvy! How do you do that?
On the Google Maps page, click "link" at the upper right-hand corner, click "Customize and preview embedded map", a new window will pop-up, select "large", and then copy and paste all the html code in the bottom box into your post.
This is so cool Michael! I'm taking my first trip to London, and I enjoyed looking at what you sent! Thank you! I'll have to do some of this exploring on the internet and also look up Paris!
We have been using Google Earth for a long time for our travels. It does make it nice to get off of a train and know exactly where your hotel is. Saves getting maps out and looking lost.
Don't forget to differentiate between Google Earth (which is a rather large separate download from Google and runs off your computer's hard drive) and Google Maps, which offers satellite views and "street view" over the internet. Both are excellent resources for travel planning. For areas where Google doesn't have "street view," you may want to check out Microsoft Maps at http://www.bing.com/maps . Your chosen location may have "Bird's eye view" which gives about a 45 degree angle shot of the location at low altitude. It's not quite as good as street view, but better than a straight overhead satellite shot. And to compare which satellite views are better for your chosen area, go to http://www.jonasson.org/maps
