Google Earth has a wealth of diverse sites, can they be listed or searched?

Using Google Earth I have noted many many sites, in Prague for example, that have interest. There must be 100s in such a city. It would be nice to examine a list (if it exists) of sites in a particular city. Has anyone an idea how query Google Earth for a location? Are the sites in a city classified? I imagine they would they have a classification mechanism of some kind: restaurants, museums, groceries etc.

Perhaps I should consider Google maps as a source? But I don't know how to restrain the search to a geographical area and site type (museum)

Ideas are welcome

In Google Maps you can for example search for something like “statues in Oviedo Spain”, it will show you a list and their locations on a map. Is this what you are thinking of?

Wow! of course, how simple of me. They have the data and a search including location and topic shows what they have. I was unaware of this type of search vs looking for an address. I found 14 museums in Lille. I wonder how specific one can get?

I just searched for military museums in Lile France - 12 were given. This is many many times better than using a web search engine where the results are a crowd scene of sites driven by a desire for clicks that must be sorted through and the mostly trash results discarded.

I just checked a search in GTP and the results were disappointing. Three were given, one of which is in Paris. I added nearby sites and received 5 items, only one of which was of military interest. a bust.

So a major question now: what is Google Maps classification scheme so one knows what terms/classification are the best to use and what are the geographical parameters. Obviously someone know this.

My suggestion here on Prague applies if you are interested in an esoteric historical site, the Army Military Museum. This is the tank museum, a significant museum on Czech tanks. No small potatoes here since in the inter-war years the Czechs were the biggest armaments producers in Central Europe because of the city of Plzen (Pilsen) and known to be a formidable force of at least 36 divisions.

I don't use Google maps at all, certainly do not rely on them. There are more esoteric history sites outside of Prague if you want to pursue this sort of thing.
