Good location for fun not Amsterdam London Paris or italy

Sorry is I shot down suggestions before you make them.Dad and I have blessed to travel extensively in Europe and so have seen almost all the major capitals.Dad will be using a wheelchair but can walk short distances I will be limited by fatigue. Adult son suggested Iceland but not able to arrange.
Due to health issues it looks likely that I will not be able to travel after August overseas for several months. So I am looking for a destination that would have some fun things to do and have easy to arrange day trips. I am thinking of Stockholm or Oslo. Pros and cons of each? Any other suggestions? Dad does not want do do Spain but France ( not Paris ) might work. Thanks

My wife has mobility issues and we've been spending a long weekend in a place like Rome or London before getting on an ocean cruise for a 1 week cruise. On her folding electric mobility scooter, we've had no problems getting around on and off the ship.

We take more taxi's than in past years, and we stay in more modern hotels with elevators. We see more European cities with handicap facilities and walkways, but the London Tube still has many stations without elevators.

As for a single city, we still like Budapest. Or Vienna. We too have been to most all major European cities in 20+ trips over there. We just returned last week from Alaska and a few days in Victoria, BC.

Hi Diane -
It might help if you could tell us more about what "fun" means to you and your father? History museums? Art museums? Architecture? Parks? None of the above?

Whilst waiting for some more info from you, we really enjoyed what we've seen of Belgium so far (emphasis on history, architecture and art). It's not a huge country, and I think you might choose to base in Gent and day trip to Antwerp, Brussels, Bruges, and/or some other locations. That's just an example; you might choose to base in, and day-trip from, Antwerp. Anyway, there are multiple interesting opportunities in that country. IMHO.

Hi. While we enjoy museums and just general sightseeing I was thinking of light hearted things like Amsredams Swing ( which I lasted less than one minute on until I heard a voice screaming get me down which turned out to be me) , the schilthorn where pretended to be James bond on a bobsled , the gardens in Salzburg which had trick fountains. London is out but that would offer the London Eye and others. We loved Budapest but may be too far. Thanks

Disneyland Paris. Has rides, gardens, and fountains. Accomodates wheelchairs and lots of places to rest.

Yes, this is a tounge in cheek response. The reality is that as we age, which I am doing, our travel options become more and more limited. Cities are not made for those with mobility limitations. My wife can only go a few blocks withouot a brief rest and a hill or steep stairs can ruin our day. Most musuems and other cultural sites are even more limiting unless they have been recently built or extensively remodeled.

I hope you have a memorable trip.

I might be a bit biased, but Stockholm is a great option. Beutiful city and good selection of museums and possible day trips. And a good network of public transportation that is mostly wheelchair accessible. As well as many great museums. As probably many other things that can be considered fun, depending on your preferences.
