Good IPod Touch app for documents

My wife just gave me an IPod touch to use on our trip to Europe. She has one also but uses it mostly for music, email, facebook. I plan to add Skype for calls home but would also like to save and access some word and excel documents with itinerary information on the device. Anyone have a document app they like? Thanks,

I use the Kindle app, which is free. I email pdf's direct to my Kindle address. After syncing, (which requires WIFI) the pdf's are displayed in the Kindle library, available off line at all times.

If you have Microsoft Outlook installed on your desktop, you can use the notes feature. Copy/Paste any text document into a new note. Itunes automatically syncs with Outlook and notes is already installed in the Ipod; they're 100% compatible with each other. PDF files don't need a special app just move it into the IBooks folder via Itunes.

I use Dropbox, but mostly send PDF formatted things to it. Works over wifi, helps if you open the docs on your iPod before you leave (so it has a cached version and you don't need wifi to read). Also use TripIt to organize travel stuff and it works great.

...you can also email word and text document to yourself as an attachment. Ipod's built-in mail program will accept word documents without a special app.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will email them to myself but I'd like to have something handy in case I'm not in a wifi area. Notes may be plenty, I'll have to give that a try this weekend. If I use notes can I edit existing documents and save new documents I create on the road? They won't be books, but it would be nice to have a central location to track phone numbers, reservation confirmations, etc.

Brad, The best documents App that I know of is Docs To Go. I've been using it for many years with my Palm PDA, my iPod Touch and now with an iPhone. It handles Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents, and changes can be made. I haven't tried all the features yet, but I've never had any problems with it. Cheers!

Hello, we use PDF reader and also in case you need it, there are a lot of offline maps as well that you can add as apps.
Enjoy your trip!

Great suggestions. It's Saturday and I'll see if I can get something up and running - next weekend we're flying to Spain.

I had great experience with GoodReader on two trips to Europe last year. I just PDF'd the documents and downloaded them. I know there are lots of features I didn't explore, but it was great for reference materials (eg, detailed descriptions of certain sites). You could display the actual PDF file, or a flat file version of the text.

I'm an iphone user and I use Documents-To-Go. You can view/edit MS Office Word/Excel/PowerPoint docs. You can also use it to view PDF documents. It's an excellent app and have used it for 3 years.
