I'm wondering if anyone has tried using gloveler.com? It looks like Airbnb but with a lot of places in Germany. I'm not seeing much in the way of reviews but no scam alerts either. Or does anyone know of another booking service with rooms in some of the smaller towns in Germany? Thanks.

Just go to the towns website and you will usually find listings of apts. For Germany, you would look for "Ferien Wohnungen" which means vacation apt.

The town website is a good idea as already mentioned. You referenced airbnb...have you searched with them for apartments or homes in the towns for which you have an interest? I know you can find apartments using airbnb for small towns like Mittenwald, Garmisch, or Oberammergau (as examples).

Yes, we've looked at Airbnb but aren't finding places in some towns, or they're too far from the train station. I haven't tried town websites, though.
