Which sim card is the best to use when travelling around Europe? I bought a phone that i can use in any global network(including Japan) and has wi-fi, but i can't decide which card would work best in europe, and how would i use internet on the phone?
I use a SIM Card from United Mobile that gives me a UK phone number and 29 cent (euro) rates to and within most European countries, and back to the U-S and Canada. Incoming calls, in most cases, are free to me. See www.united-mobile.com. However, I'm not sure how your phone would work in Japan, since its services are PDC or WCDMA, not GSM, which is the mode used in most of the rest of the world, including Europe. Forget internet services by phone....they'd be extraordinarily expensive.
It depends on what phone you have and the carrier. If your phone has a browser, use the wi-fi to connect to the internet and a sim card for phone calls. Why pay for data service you don't need.
It also depends on the countries you're visiting. What's your itinerary? There are some T-Mobile rate plans that include free wireless internet at any T-Mobile hot spot worldwide. T-Mobile is a dominant player in several European countries...
most of western europe is where i plan on traveling also a few eastern eurpopean destinations(czech republic, Hungary) the phone i got is a nokia e61, i could have sworn that it has the wcdma capability. may have to check again.
Yep, your phone does have WCDMA capability. There's one Japanese network that uses the WCDMA 2000 standard that's capable of fully working with your Nokia E61.
