Global Entry Renewal - Online

I just submitted for my second renew of Global Entry -- where did those ten years go??? There have been reports here of a required interview with the renewal. Mine was approved without any additional documentation or interview. All that was required was confirming the current passport number, current information, and an update of travel for the past five years. With three years of pandemic it was a short list. The only major change is that my hair has gone from mostly brown to all gray. It was easy. And loved that my credit card paid for it.

Yes--when I did my ten year there was no additional interview. And yes, I didn't have a huge list of visited countries either. My current passport is pretty lean in the stamp department.

We renewed passports a couple of years ago so we have zero stamps. Maybe next year. But the Cuban stamp is now in the old passport so don't have worry about being challenged for the Cuban stamp.

When does your GE expire? My husband's expires in Oct and mine in Dec. Just wondering how far in advance to renew?
Does anyone have a list of which CC pay for GE? I guess I should check.

Glad to hear this!
My second renewal is in process. My first renewal had trips to Cuba and Iran in it so I wondered if I'd get called in for an interview that time but I wasn't.

@ChinaLake67

You may want to began the renewal process sooner than later.

From the cbp.gov website: “You become eligible to renew your membership one year prior to program expiration. If you submit a renewal application before your membership expires, you will be able to continue to use benefits up to 24 months after your membership expiration date, if your renewal does not get processed in time.”

Credit Card benefits change but an easy google may connect you to the different offerings. I use American Express Platinum. There are options with cheaper fees.

I submitted my first renewal on 2 Dec 22 , as of today - 8 May 23 - it still states "Wait for Conditional Approval". Technically it & my TSA Pre-Check expired in March, however the site also states, "Due to a significant increase in application volume, we are extending the grace period to allow you continued full benefits while U.S. Customs and Border Protection is finalizing your renewal application." Which I tested in April & May and both times I still had TSA Pre-Check show up on my boarding pass. If my new card does not arrive by the end of the month, I will be testing the Global Entry on my return from S. Korea in June through SFO.

Unbelievable - but we applied for our Global Entry renewal yesterday after reading this post (we expire in Oct and Dec) and we woke up this morning to an email saying we are approved. It took less than 12 hours!!!!!!!

ChinaLake67, I think I and others have reported the same experience. I think if nothing significant has changed, and no arrests since the original then they don't need an interview. And if they wanted to know where you've been they could find out. They just want to weed out liars.

Update -- Just received my renewed, GE card in the mail yesterday (May 15). I think that is less than two weeks from date of request for renewal. Talk about quick turn around.

I applied for renewal on February 18, 2023, the day I received an email reminding me about the upcoming expiration (August) of my Global Entry. As of today, May 16, 2023, I am still waiting for "Conditional Approval." At least they have extended a grace period because of high volume of applications.

Mary, something has gone wrong. I would contact them. One thing I noticed is that it is easy to move from a renewal to applying for a new card. I remember getting far into the "renewal" process when I decided the questions being asked did not seem appropriate for a renewal but more appropriate for new card. I cancelled out, went back to the beginning and started over. This time, I paid very careful attention to every screen, every question, and that is when I noticed that the logical answer on one screen actually took you to the new card process.

By chance, last week I was discussion the renewal process with good friends who had just done the same thing and had exactly the same experience I did. Fortunately he noticed the same issue, backed out, and started over. I don't remember the screen where this occurred but stay alert to that possibility if you are renewing. I think the question is something like, "Are you applying for new card?" Or some thing kind of like that but vague. It is easy to answer yes instead of no. Just be on alert.

Frank, Thanks for the suggestions. I went back to the website and it says "Application Type: Renewal." I just updated my driver's license information as I had just renewed it. I reviewed my application and all of the information is correct. I just sent them a request for application status check through the website as I could not find a phone number to call.

My only change was that I moved last year. Still pending from December.
