I was notified of 6-mo pending expiry of my Global Entry, (which I originally got 10 years ago). I applied on that weekend, got approval 9 business days later. I have NOT been back in for an interview either time I renewed it & my new GE card arrived about 2 weeks later! I was mildly shocked but hey, nice to get it out of the way so quickly.
(And it's nice having a 10-year old picture on the new card.)

Lucky you, I sent it my renewal just under a year before it was set to expire. It took 11 months.

LOL. The picture on my global entry card is now 14 years old but I have the feeling that the jig is up when I renew next year.

Wish me luck on my renewal. Its my second renewal I just filled out the online form yesterday. There are so many odd things about my circumstance, I am sort of thinking that they might want an interview. But the site said they can do virtual? That would be okay.
I renewed mine online last month and received approval in less than 24 hours. The physical card arrived in the mail about a week later. No complaints about my old picture. ;-)
My experience was the same as Andrea's - approved the following day, card in a week. My husband just submitted to renew his and he has to have an interview. But the interview can be done via Zoom. He is scheduled for Zoom interview on 8/21.
That's great. I renewed ours a couple of years ago. I was shocked they didn't require a new interview as my teen still has a picture of when she was 4 years old! We just used it last month coming into US and no issues.
Wow, what a wide variety of experiences. I don't think we can even speculate as to 'why' but I'm just going to say it was quick THIS time! (I hope that picture stays at least 20 years, WHY can't DMV let me look 10 years younger?)
It would be interesting to hear from anyone who had a Zoom interview? I had noticed the option, that might be much easier. Good luck everyone!

After I used a European home address. My 3rd sinve the last application, a US private mail box delivery address and I know if they check my DL its got yet another address. Then there was the where have you been question: Albania, Malaysia, N. Korea, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ukraine ... and i've been in the US for about a week in the last 4 years.
No single answer was bad but put them all together and ... well ... I would stop me at the border.

My amazing luck with the government continues. After getting our passports in 5 days for my husband and 8 days for me, I submitted online applications to renew our global entry on August 5. We got emails that afternoon that we were approved, and our cards came in the mail yesterday — it took 6 days! Maybe it’s because we have lived in the same house for 40 years and the worst thing I’ve done in the past ten years is return a library book one day late. LOL
I'm glad that you got it so quickly! Mine will be coming up for renewal in a year or so, so that is good to know.

Ha ha, I was looking at my Costco account the other day, and noticed that my photo is actually 17 years old! I barely recognized myself. 😂
Carroll might be on to something. We have lived in the same house for 11 years and our prior home for 24 years. We both worked 30 or more years for local government that required security clearance for our respective jobs.
Does anyone know whether becoming a resident of a foreign country affects one's eligibility for Global Entry? I'll need to renew mine pretty soon.
jphbucks - I hold dual citizenship but I am the reverse as a naturalized US citizen, and did not have any issues applying and obtaining GE. My renewal 2 years ago was online and fast.

Reporting back on my husband's Zoom interview for his GE renewal. Showed his passport. Showed his driver's license. Is the address correct (yes). Has anything changed in the last 5 years you forgot to update (no). Have you ever been arrested (no). Any international trips planned for the future (yes, leave for Netherlands and Belgium in a week). Any questions for me (no). Expect an email within 72 hours saying you've been approved and card in the mail in about a week. The agent was prompt and polite. It couldn't have taken more than 3 minutes.
Ooops. I dont have a drivers' license? 9 days and counting.
Mr E - My understanding is that something to show proof of residency is needed for the interview, it doesn't need to be a driver's license. Here is what it says on the US Customs and Border Protection website: Documents providing proof of residency. Such proof may include a driver's license, mortgage statement, rental payment statement, or utility bill that features the applicant’s current home address. Good luck!
This will sound strange, but I have none of those either. Long story as to why, but I do have my Hungarian Residency Card with the address on it. Everyone is required to report where they live to the government and get a card. Try that in the US LOL.
Mr. E - I think it will come down to which address you have on file when submitting your tax returns to the US. Even someone who lives abroad must file those. Good luck!
Thats a third address. IRS accepts a PO Box. They dont care where you live.

Mr E, it's amazing you got it so quickly! Freya, actually if you scroll up in this thread, you will see a few people got theirs renewed within a DAY or 2. I had zero expectations, hahaha, so was just pleased to get it so quickly!
