What is the optimal way to get to Vlorë Albania from the USA?

I flew in to Tirana. From there a couple of options are to either rent a car or take the Tirana to Vlore bus. They leave fairly often from the South and North bus terminal (just a big parking lot with lots of minivans).

Define "optimal" I hired a driver. If you want to see more of Albania, which is really worth the effort, get a good local tour agency and plan it with help.
