Is it possible to catch a train to Salzburg at the airport? If not, how's the best way to go into town to catch it? Thanks. Betty

The only trains at the Munich airport are S-Bahn -- local commuter trains. Lines S-1 and S-8 serve the airport. Either one will take you from the airport to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) in about 45 minutes -- S-1 via a route that skirts the west side of the city, while S-8 goes around the east side.
From the airport terminal just walk out into the covered plaza and look for the green 'S' sign for the escalator to take you down to the trains.
