I am an American living in the south of France. I have a Carte de Sejour, and have now been told I must get a French Driver License before the C de S is a year old. If I do not, my insurance will be invalid. The French Code book and Test are in French...I do not speak it well enough to pass. Any ideas? Any Americans who have done this with an interpreter? Thanks! Lynn
Sounds like a bummer.
Try these:

The last one seems to hold the most hope.
Wild guess is that an interpreter would be a no-go since it could be construed as a colaborative effort.
What state are you from originally? Certain states have a reciprocity agreement with France if you trade in your US license and this would allow you to get a French license without taking their test. I think you just have to pay 15€ and be from one of the states that participates in the agreement.
