We are mid-week and notice the weather channel says it will be showers and snow showers, same during Christmas in Garmish. Is rain typical this time of year?
Of course it is. It's early winter. It might even be worse by the time you get there.
"Is rain typical this time of year?" Rain is typical ALL year round in Germany (and most of NW Europe). But in winter, sometimes it gets cold enough to fall as snow. Southern Bavaria is the coldest area of Germany, so snow is virtually a given in the winter.
There is no typical weather. All I can tell you is what happened the last couple of years. It's always been too mild for the rain to come down as snow before Xmas. And over the holidays it's cooled down so that by the 27th/28th snow has hit pretty hard...
Germany memories = rain, sleet or snow this time of year, balanced by wonderful people & spectacular scenery. By ready for chilly, wet & cold weather.
