I am planning on traveling to those countries next year during school break with my son who is 13. June to Early August, dates still open. I always wanted to see the Alpes and I am a fan of sound of music movie. I would like to do the sound of music tour. I am open to cities to visit. I love different architectures, trying new foods and just seeing new places. I am planning for a 12-14 days trip leaving from Tampa, FL. Any suggestions will be helpful.

aponce_1 - For the alps, Stay in the Berner Oberland region of Switzerland, Sounds of music tour will be in Salzburg Austria, For Germany you can do Bavaria and tour Munich, Rothenberg, and Nuremberg.
Fly into Vienna then train to Salzburg - From Salzburg train to Munich - From Munich train to Berner Oberland - From Berner Oberland train to Zurich to fly home. That's how i would logistically plan this trip.

How tight or loose is your budget? I ask because Switzerland is a lot more expensive than Germany and Austria.
How many nights do you expect to spend on the ground in Europe, not counting the night on the plane?

I was planning 4 days at each Country. Budget for accommodations and flight 4000.

Yes you can spend 4 days in each country. Fly into and start in Austria, follow by Germany, and finish up in Switzerland. Fly home from Switzerland.
