Genuine Alpine Village experience

Hello! We are trying to find a genuine Alpine village experience for a weekend stay in either Switzerland, Southern Germany, or Austria. We are living in the Stuttgart area.

Ideally a village/town big enough where we can walk around a bit, have a couple restaurants to choose from, etc. But also hoping for one of those "postcard" type views from a balcony or at least nearby.

Me, wife, three kids (5,4,2) and mother in law.

Apartments/homes are fine, as well as hotels. Pet friendly would be a huge bonus (we have two small dogs) and looking to stay under $200 / €160 a night.

Easy, right?! Haha!

Any help GREATLY appreciated.

What time of year? I love Rauris about an hour south of Salzburg. Small and pretty and a public swimming pool with a picture postcard view across the valley. It springs to mind as there is a dog hotel in the village.

I'd recommend Fischen im Allgäu, Oberstdorf, or anywhere in the Austrian Kleinwalsertal.

Oberstdorf fits the bill. I would not drive any further for a weekend but it's up to you. Close by is Breitachklamm Gorge. Google the town website for accommodations.
