Gatwick airport/ Gatwick express

2 questions:

1) I am assuming that you do not have to pre-book tickets? Do you just show up to Victoria station and buy tickets for the next train or is it more complicated?

2) Will the authorities let you sleep on chairs in the airport overnite? We have an early morning flight and it seems silly to get a hotel there for just a few hours and the "Yotel" doesn't seem worth it.

Thanx

  1. Just show up.

  2. Don't know anymore. Check "sleepinginairports.com" (I'm not kidding.)

1) just show up, there is also southern train, that departs from gatwick and arrives at victoria station, for half the price it takes 30 minutes.

2) yotel offers 4 hours single for 25 pounds.

Southern trains go from Gatwick to Victoria. They do NOT go to King's Cross.

First Capital Connect trains go from Gatwick to St. Pancras (close by King's Cross).

For timetables for the Gatwick Express, Southern trains, and First Capital Connect trains, use the Journey Planner at www.nationalrail.co.uk.

I agree with martine..the Southern train is half the price and takes maybe 15 minutes longer. It arrives at Kings Cross, so if you're staying anywhere near there, its your best bet. The GE stops at Victoria where there are 3 or 4 tube lines
