I wont bore with all the details, but I bought tickets on Thalys from Paris to Brussels for 58 Euros. Capital One charged me $75.10 and my Costco AMEX charged $77.26. This was on a day when the Capital One rate (1.2948) closely approxmimated the exchanges. Amex rate was 1.3320... This could add up on an extended trip, so you know which card I will use in Europe.

That's a 2.87% difference and I think pretty much standard for cards that charge for the foreign currency exchange. It's why I also use my Capital One card.

The dreaded "Foreign Transaction Fee" is why I stopped using AMEX and started using my Capital One.
