From Venice in November

I am meeting my daughter in Venice Nov 16 and she has 6 days before going back to school in Rome. Where is the best place to visit in Europe that isn't as rainy and gray as described in many of the posts? We thought of Gimmelwald, Switzerland and up to Basel. But if it's nasty at that time, what are the alternatives? Any help greatly appreciated

Note that it will be "shoulder" season in Gimmelwald as well as the entire Lauterbrunnen Valley including Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen and Gridelwald. From mid-October to mid-December, most places are closed as the area transitions from summer to winter skiing. You can probably find a place that's open, however. You can still travel into these locations but it may be quiet and, it could be snowing. If you have any favorite choices, as we do in Lauterbrunnen, they can advise you by email.
