Currently, nearly all European countries allow entry without proof of vaccination.
I’m planning to bring mine on my next trips. We don’t currently need it, but the requirements could change while you are in Europe.
Yep.
It's not exactly heavy. Easy to justify carrying it (two of them, actually; my cards runneth over...).
If you really feel you might need it it might be easier just to take a picture and have it on your phone. Then you won’t have to worry about losing it or getting it wet or things like that.
I carried mine and will continue to do so. Who knows what might happen while one is traveling!
I've got it in a plastic sleeve so no problem with it getting wet and I keep it in the wallet where I keep my passport. I also have photos of it filed in my document photo album on my iPhone and have it in my "Notes" section as well.
Yes,
We did a Gate 1 Tour of Egypt in January and had to show our vaccinations to our Gate 1 Rep to be able to join the tour.
I always wonder if we lost the cards, would a photo do? I have photos of my wife and my cards in my iPhone.
I will still be carrying mine, and I would not recommend the theory of take a picture. I was at the Atlanta airport going to France about a year ago and the woman next to me was denied boarding because she thought that all you needed was a picture on your phone of your vaccination cards. Her situation was worse because apparently the rest of her family actually had the required card. One of her family members actually kind of told her they had told her to bring the stupid thing and apparently they had flown Southwest to Atlanta to connect to Delta. so she was going to have to figure out how to get back to Florida get the card and get back to Atlanta and fly to wherever they were going. None of which was probably going to be cheap because the rest of our family was going to Europe without her
My back up for the card is actually to request a copy of the vaccination record from my state after every booster, which I also keep with me. It’s one page of paper, and it shows every shot I’ve had. Every state in the country now has some kind of vaccination registry. It also is going to show your tetanus shot, your flu shot , shingles shots, etc..
I carry my CDC card with the passport, both go together, in case called upon to produce them.
I am the same as Fred. I just keep my card in my passport case along with my passport.
It’s a bit irrational to compare what’s going on now with what was going on a year ago. If you leave this country without your card because it’s not required, then how can they expect you to have it with you if – a big if – things change?
No, I haven't carried mine with me since it was required. I have a photo on my phone and that has sufficed so far, including a couple of trips to Iceland as well as Germany and Austria.
Mine just lives in my passport wallet now.
Yes. It’s just in my wallet - takes up no space. If we still haven’t needed it in a few years, maybe I will take it out.
Think of it the way you do auto and home insurance. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Absolutely. You never know when it might come in handy--hard copy and on phone.
TC--We also do not carry our car registration or insurance cards in our vehicle. Here in WA it is legal to just have a photo of those.
Yes, like those who have already replied, mine is in my passport cover and doesn't take up much room. While I am hoping there won't be changes to the current policies, I don't want to take a chance on needing it and not having it.
I just read that the ArrivCan App that the Canadian government created during the pandemic to expedite entry can still be used to get you into the express lane through Customs. So yes, I've still got mine within the App. Just in case on the road, and to to speed things up coming home.
I carry all my international health records with me (some go back to 1976 when I started international travel)....and included the results of a rubella test....in the event of another measles outbreak somewhere. At one point, passengers could not leave a cruise ship without getting a measles inoculation. I prefer to prove I don't need one than have some stranger give me a shot 'because'.
I'm not so concerned about entry requirements, or local lockdowns. I think it would be a good idea to have it in case you end up needing medical care or hospitalization for anything else.
Yes to the physical card. I'll store it with my passport, just in case. It's also in my Apple Wallet as a back up.
I still plan to carry mine because at the airport returning to the US last summer, the airline agent wanted to see it even though US citizens don't need to be vaccinated to enter the country. It was faster to show the card than to argue the point.
I assume eventually I'll stop traveling with it.
