Many years ago, my cousin spent a semester studying in southern Switzerland. She became addicted to a chocolate spread called "Frelitta" or "Felitta." She liked it because it DID NOT contain hazelnuts--just chocolate. She does not like hazelnuts.
(I'm sure some of you are thinking "Nutella." Nutella contains hazelnuts. )
I've tried to find it on my trips to the area but haven't had any luck. Are any of you familiar with this product or know where I can get it?
Frank: You can find recipes for a chocolate spread if you google "tartine du chocolat". Seems simple, just butter, chocolate powder or chocolate, and cream.
Frank, thank you- I've always wanted to check World Market out. My mom shops there sometimes and gets some good stuff.

I would love to find out about this. I LOVED Nutella as a kid but then developed an allergy to hazelnuts.
Cate...World Market (the former Cost Plus) has their own brand of chocolate spread without hazelnuts. I've never tried it but you might want to check it out.
Frank - It appears to be Frelitta. Made by a company called Migros. Here's a link to a shopping site that has it. It still appears to have hazelnuts in it. Maybe not as much as Nutella.
