I will be in Munich with a free day the first week of September. On this day others in group plan on touring BMW factory and going to Dachau. I would prefer to go on a day hike - but would rather not go solo. I can certainly get to any location by myself, but for the actual hiking part think it would be prudent to be part of a group or with a guide. Other days in Munich will be touring the city and going to Fussen. Any suggestions would be welcomed. TY

Liz, The only suggestion I can think of is to take a Bike tour around Munich, as that will provide a small group to travel with. Have a look at This Website for further details. Happy travels!

If you do not mind a 90 minute train ride each way, you will find fantastic hiking at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. There are two gorge hikes you could easily and safely domon your own, as you difinitely would not be alone. Google Höllentalklamm and Partnachklamm for photos. Or you could checkmwith the TI there for guided hikes.
