free clinics in Paris?

Just wondering. I have travel insurance but they're telling me I'll need to pay up front and file a claim with them later. I have 400€ to last me the rest of the month here in Paris, but I hurt my foot last week and haven't been able to do much since. I just walked to Notre Dame and back from the 11e, and since then my foot has been killing me. This was last Tuesday. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a place I can go to get it checked out for super-cheap or free. Heeeeeelp. i don't want to stay in bed any longer!!

As you stated in your latest post, you have a friend that lives in Paris. Perhaps they would know better than we where the free clinis are located.

You could start by checking with a pharmacist. In Europe pharmacists give medical advice.

If you are a tourist, you are not likely to be able to use a 'free clinic'. Clinics may treat you, but because you are not a French taxpayer/citizen, they will most likely expect payment at the time of treatment.

That's why you have travel insurance - and extra funds for emergencies - and why you need to have funds to cover medical expenses. I would suggest either getting the funds to pay - it's probably not that expensive - or if you really have no other choice, going to an emergency room. In most European countries, emergency treatment is free, but any prescriptions or non-emergency care is only offered to tourists upon payment.

Also, in the meantime a couple home remedies you can try is: (1) soak your foot in espsom salts; and (2) apply ice for 10 minutes on / 10 minutes off. Good luck.
