I belong to a certain internationally known fraternal organization. I would like to know if anyone has had an opportunity to visit or participate in any local events related to their particular organization, whatever that may be. I don't know if it has become passe to belong to such organizations in Europe, of if they have manged to prosper, especially recently. I'd really like to know about other's experiences, and if you would recommend it.

It depends on where - Nigel is right, you should contact your own and inquire about active chapters for where you are planning to go.
I was in a small corner of France last November and noticed for the first time a few local towns with signage at the entrance for an international organization. I don't recall ever seeing those signs in previous trips to other regions in France.

There seems to be Rotary meetings all over the world. If that's your organization, take one of your banners with you to trade.
