Is 3 full days and two half days on either end enough to cover Dordogne & Provence or should I just focus on one area? Here is what I was thinking:
Day 1 (1/2 Day - Leave @ Noon) Drive down to Dordogne (stopping at Oradour + the caves) stay near Sarlat.
Day 2 - Canoe on Dordogne, tour towns, stay near Sarlat. Day 3 - Leave Sarlat drive to Albi and see towns nearby. Stay in Albi? or drive to Provence in late afternoon.
Day 4 - Tour towns in the north west region of Provence including Avignon.
Day 5 - Tour more towns in Provence. Take 4pm train to Paris.
It's not "enough to cover" by any stretch, but who says you have to do that?
I do think you will probably not be able to achieve all of the things on your itinerary, and maybe that means you should slow down a bit. Don't underestimate how much time you will be spending behind the wheel.
But if you have the stamina and flexibility for such a fast pace, I think you can have a very satisfying experience. These are great destinations.
Really, it depends on the kind of trip you want to have.
You can do it, but it's a lot of driving. I doubt you can see both Oradour and caves on the end of a day's drive from Paris. I'd suggest timing your canoe trip with a caves visit. Be sure to know when the English language tours are scheduled.
Those are great areas of France to tour. Over two weeks.
For the length of time you are suggesting, it might be a bit rushed and as mentioned, driving will take a chunk of time out of seeing things, and you have to drive it.
