Renting a car for travel in France and then going to Bastogne for a couple of days. We know we will need a car there so what would be the best location to drop off our car after Bastogne and make train connections to Brugge? France or Belgium locations and price differences?

You'll pay a big drop fee if you end the auto trip in Belgium. Lille looks like it should work for a drop-off location in France. I've no idea about trains. You might have to go to Bruges via Brussels. Or there may be public transport directly between Lille and Bruges as they are close.

You can take a train directly to Bruges from Lille.
