Found Passport

Yesterday when I was walked back to my car at DIA in Denver, I found a passport sitting on the ground in the parking lot. I know the holder is from Wyoming, and I tried an internet search to find her. No luck.

Do I take the passport to the post office to get it returned to the owner? I'd hate to think what she is going through now that she's discovered that her passport is missing.

The one really good thing is, I can see from the stamps in the passport that she was returning from her trip, not heading out. She arrived back in the US on May 10.

So ---where do I turn this is to get it sent back to the owner?

I would mail it back to the Passport Services office listed on page 6 of the passport:

I would vote for the Passport Service Office - too many things get lost in police stations.

Do you have any friends who are journalists? I work at a newspaper in Minnesota and have access to voting records and driver's license records that provide residents' mailing addresses in my state.

Take it to your local Police station. That is the right thing to do as a good citizen.

Sadly people never fill out page 7 of the passport with their information.

How about the post office? Don't they assist with the processing of passports?? Surely they would be trained with a "found" one??

Thanks all for you continued responses. I mailed the passport back to the passport offices with a letter explaining that I'd like it returned to the owner.
I can only hope the owner got it back!
