Forum technical question - frustration at formatting that keeps getting messed up

I'm annoyed by the fact formatting on the new interface here on RS Travel Forum just doesn't work, at least for me. It is frustrating. The problem affects replies, not original posts on new threads that I might open.

Even with everything seems perfectly fine on the preview, my posts get messed up, they lose line double separation, line breaks, or both.

I use Chrome on Windows 8.1.

Is there a workaround or solution that will make formatting work (changing browser is not an option)?

Hi,
Line breaks seem to work for some and not for others at this time. We are deploying a fix for that later this week as noted in a new sticky post I just added. However, double line breaks still won't be possible after that time. The best workaround I've seen is what James does. He creates a new line, adds a period, then adds another line, etc. The period effectively occupies space so that the formatting system doesn't collapse the line breaks.

Here's an example.

I do the same - add the period - the bulleted list works well to break up information too.

If you're looking to add separation between different parts of a reply, you can also use a "horizontal rule" to add a line, such as...

I've been separated into a new section! Ctrl+R, clicking on the icon in the editor, or typing three or more dashes ('-') on their own line will add it.

Andre,

I've tried adding the paragraph symbol ( ¶ ) on line breaks instead of a period, and that also seems to work. I use FireFox for the most part.

If you don't want the period, try adding the ASCII blank character.

That's what I just did. You can create that character by holding down the Alt key and typing 255 on the numeric keypad.

This probably won't work on Apple computers.
