Thank you for the link. Breathtaking scenes. Some of the comments after the photos are really cranky but maybe that's the average Telegraph reader for you.

Thanks, David for the link. I was pleased to see that I've been to quite a few of them and it was especially timely since I'm now planning for Semana Santa in Seville.

It is worth noting ...
Semana Santa and the Northern Lights are both strictly events, and not places.
Pamukkale and Ephesus are both strictly in Asia, and not in Europe.
I guess that leaves 4 openings on this list to be filled. Suggestions ??

Now that I've seen most of the "biggies" and have expanded my travels to lesser visited places, I find that just as enjoyable and enlightening. 10 days in Burgundy and Alsace was quite as good as 10 days in Paris, though a very different experience.

I'm planning my third trip to Andalusia. I visited the Alhambra once and don't plan to go back, though it was the indeed the best sight in Spain. I've been to Cordoba twice and plan to go back again.
