Food in Morocco

We are a young couple and we will be in Marrakesh for a couple of days. What are some of the things you will recommend for us to see and do....specially because, we will be taking cooking classes, what we should make sure to try! Thanks!

I would definitely recommend the Majorille Gardens. A one hour carriage ride would also be nice. There is a lovely hotel where you might go for a drink and appetizer but you must be dressed to the 9's or they will turn you away...don't remember the name. Thought the Jacaranda restaurant was very
nice.

I loved the food in Morocco... wonderful flavor, subtle spices and a great dish we had numerous times that was a combination of meat, potatoes, zucchini, carrots and a number of other vegetables all cooked in a ceramic dish called a tagine. I don't know if the whole combination had an exact name or not, but it was fabulous. I bought a tagine dish after I got home and went to a spice store for Moroccan spices and made my own version... it was good, but somehow did not compare. Maybe you'll learn the trick and post it here after your cooking class! Have a great trip. Sp. correction... Tagine, not tangine.

Thank you all!!! I love the fact that I get to hear your adventures and stories.
I will pay attention :) and certainly share what I learn with you! I am Guatemalan, we also use a lot of clay pots and spices.

Guatemala??? I just returned from there a few weeks ago. Fourth trip there and I love it and the food as well. I think lots of people have a misconception of what the food in both those areas is like... I know I did and I was pleasantly surprised as I loved it all.

Chicken tagine was one of my most memorable experiences. Best to avoid touristy restaurants on a main square... Overpriced and poor quality.
