Flying out of Frankfurt, How should I plan my 1 month trip?

Hey everyone,

How should I plan a month long trip in July, when I have to fly out of Frankfurt and I want to see the Rhine, Hamburg, the Romantic road and possibly Switzerand.

The problem is I am living in Vienna for 6 months prior to the trip. I will have WAY to much luggage to do the trip and enjoy it. Where do you suggest I store my extra bags?? And what is the most logical route from Vienna to Hamburg without back tracking??

Thank you for your help!

You can ship your extra luggage home for a reasonable rate using surface mail -- that will be cheaper than storge costs. Just box up all the stuff you don't need and head to the post office. They can help you with the details. Plan to travel only with a small bag.

With a month, from Vienna to Hamburg/Frankfurt, your options are almost limitless. You'll have to help narrow down what you are asking for us to be able to offer much help.

Estella - I agree - ship your un-needed stuff home and carry light 3-days worth with a little room for souvineers.

As for trip - not knowing what you want to see - you could train from Vienna to Saltzburg, Innsbruck, then to St Mortiz area, the glacier express toward Lauterbrunnen Berner Oberland, then go north to Lucern, Zurich and via Basel up the Rhine to Hamburg... OR - from Innsrbuck toward Rothenburg, Wurzburg is nice too, across to Rhine and up north toward Heidelberg, Trier, Mosel-River and Rhine toward Frankfurt.
lots of options!

Thank you for your advice! I'll be looking into shipping my extra stuff home. One concern I have is the length of time it will take to get from Europe to Canada. Do you have any experience with things getting lost??

So for my itinerary, I am trying to focus mainly on Germany. I have a total of around 30 days from the time school ends to the day I fly home. I am starting in Vienna and Flying out of Frankfurt.

I want to see:

The Rhine Valley
Hamburg
Belgium
Switzerland
Munich
The Black Forest Region
And Keil (near Hamburg, for family reasons.)
And London (also because of Family)

If I could fit it in, I would also like to see some of the lake county of Italy however, this is not an absolute must

My working itinerary is as follows

Day 1: Vienna to Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich to Switzerland
Day 4: Switzerland
Day 5: Switzerland to Belgium
Day 6: Belgium
Day 7: Belgium to Amsterdam
Day 8: Amsterdam
Day 9: Amsterdam to London (early)
Day 10: London
Day 11: London
Day 12: London to Hamburg
Day 13: Hamburg
Day 14: Hamburg to Keil
Day 15: Keil
Day 16: Head towards Rhine
Day 17:Rhine Valley
Day 18: Rhine Valley
Day 19: Black Forest
Day 20 Black Forest

And that's as far as I have gotten! I guess I'm going in a long skinny loop, so I'm not sure if that's the best or not.

Anyways, Suggestions would be welcomed :)
