FlyBe, used by many to fly around and to and from the UK has cancelled many flights today for "operational reasons".
They aren't answering questions from the BBC.
If you are flying with them today or in the near future it is worth checking.

Uh-oh!! So many companies with big problems these days!!
Flymaybe sounds like it’s living up to its name!

Is that UK speak for " the corporate credit card was declined and the pilot didn't have enough cash, so they could not get fuel"?
I'm supposed to fly with them in early May but I can't make a reservation on their website. I have tried three different browsers on two different devices and nothing. (I don't travel with a PC.) And to add to that, their app is not allowing people to make reservations on it.
How do they expect to increase revenue if people can't make reservations? Or do they not want to take any more reservations because they know what's coming?
I think it's a matter of time and Flybe will join all the others who have ceased operation.
Frank, prompted by your post, I just tried a random booking for a random date, from a proper laptop.
I got an error in red:
OOPS! - SORRY Something went wrong.
We are sorry for the inconvenience, we encountered an error processing your request.
Your request could not be processed because the system is already processing a request from you. If you were trying to confirm a booking, please review your trip list to check whether your trip has been confirmed. (3002)
Second time (different flight and date) I got a different error:
OOPS! - SORRY Something went wrong.
We are sorry for the inconvenience, we encountered an error processing your request.
A commercial fare family is missing in the request. (7130 - 9024)
Third time (different again) I got a price, clicked on "Continue" and nothing happened.
Maybe they are having "Technical problems", with their computers.
I sent an email yesterday and a tweet asking about the problem. No response.
On their website they say they are redoing their entire computer system but it is not good if no one can make a reservation. The furthest I got was being able to enter departing and arriving city and date. Click "find fights" and either nothing happens or I get a Javascript error.
I don't like booking with third party websites. I tried using Kayak which redirects people to the Flybe website. Only it wouldn't redirect.
I'll wait a couple of days to see if it improves. If not, I think Flybe is done.
Addendum.....just got a return tweet saying they are sorry to hear I am having problems......suggested I try deleting history--I did before--and send them my information and they will book it for me.
BBC article:
Once again, a stark reminder of why the consensus of this forum is to avoid long distance travel on the day of having to 'catch a flight', especially an expensive international flight.
Seems they are scaling back and eliminating many of their jets in favor of prop planes. But them blaming it on pilots and other staff taking "holidays" still doesn't seem fully believable unless they are just that short of staff in general they can't meet their daily flight crew needs.
More cancellations announced for Friday.
They will also eliminate jet service in Cardiff and three other smaller airports.
We’re booked on Flybe in three weeks, ticketed through United. A few weeks ago I could at least see our reservation on the Flybe site. Now it doesn’t find our booking and says anything before early March has been given a new confirmation number. The website is pretty much useless right now. I’m calling United tomorrow for options.

Good luck, Stoutfella. That stinks!!

When I started to read it I thought it was going to be a metaphor for choosing a budget airline versus a legacy airline.
Perhaps it's not so dire, after all. Apparently, the cancellations only involve 5 percent of their flights to three or four UK destinations. I'm still unsettled by the mess on their website and will call United and/or Flybe to make sure we still have a booking. So far, looks like their six flights a day to Edinburgh are unaffected. Fingers crossed.
