Florence, Chamonix and Ireland

I have round trip flights to Dublin in September. Thinking of flying right to Florence for 3 or 4 nights, then would like to stay in or near Chamonix for 2 to 3 nights, then fly to Shannon to see Western Ireland(Cliffs of Moher). We have a total of 11 nights; with our last night in Dublin. What is the easiest way to get to Chamonix-Mont Blanc from Florence? Or Should we stay in Geneva and take side trips? We really want to take cable ride up the alps. We considered the Dolomites, but have changed our minds. I realize we are pressed for time. I do not want to drive. Any helpful suggestions would be most appreciated.

Rome2Rio.com shows it is 6 1/2 hours by train and bus from Florence to Chamonix. That is a full day of travel to spend a couple of nights. You could fly for a little saving of time, just under 6 hours. If you only have two nights in Chamonix and the one day you have there the weather i bad, it would be a shame. I think it is always best to plan at least 3 nights in any mountain location.

Geneva is not exactly in the mountains like Chamonix, but there is a cable way there.

You could go to Lugano in Switzerland, just under 4 hours by train. Not the highest mountains, but none-the-less mountainous. You can fly from Lugano to Dublin.
