Florence Accademia David

Hi. I am a fervent photographer heartsick that some venues such as David prohibit pictures. Does anyone know private or after hours tours can be arranged, or any other ideas. Thanks. Tom

Many of the attractions in Florence inexplicably have this policy. There are (at least) two copies of the statue in the city. You can take as many pictures of those as you want. I saw people taking pictures of the original, but I think they kick you out if caught. You'd have to contact the Accademia about an after hours tour (I think that's how Rick does it) but that would probably come at a considerable expense.

There are some great places that permit photos. I believe it is the duomo museum in Florence which permits photos and has a Michellangelo pieta. Santa Croce allows photos and the small church across the Arno which has frescos by Giotto. True some biggies don't but there are great shots there. Good luck and happy snapping.
