Flixbus experiences?

It appears that the best way to get from Trieste to Ljubljana is a Flixbus. There's a train but it's twice as long with infrequent departures. Flixbus has direct non stop from Trieste to Ljubljana frequent departures.
Seems like the best choice for this route.
Any experiences positive or negative?

We took Flixbus from Rome to Sorrento as a backup during a train strike. The bus was comfortable and quiet, it was easy to book and use, and there was room for an extra bag under the bus. I think it's a well respected bus line there and we had a positive experience with it.

Take the bus. They're very smooth rides too.

Took Flixbus between Zagreb and Ljubljana and it beat the pants off the train. I appreciated their online booking, you get a QR code and it includes a detailed map of where you board the bus (handy if it’s not at an actual bus station.)

We have used Flixbus once from Dresden to Prague and once during a train strike from Berlin to Leipzig. Both experiences were good. We would use them again.

Flixbus is good, took it a couple of times last year in the Czech Republic and Hungary.

I was advised about Flixbus on this forum for Italy when inquiring about transport from Rome and/or Florence to Siena, Italy.
It seems to beat rail transport, since we would have to transfer three times by rail from Rome Airport to Siena or once from Florence to Siena.

Also, the bus takes you close to the city center, rail not so much.

My big concern would be making sure that I could find the starting place for the bus.

And in addition to finding the pickup point, be sure to scope out the dropoff point at the end. For example, I just looked at the dropoff for Luxembourg City and it is at some random parking garage at the edge of town. They noted that there was a bus stop to downtown nearby so it would be fine, but I would sure want to research that in advance.

Flixbus can work well, especially if it offers a connection that is more direct than the train or one you just cannot make by train. They are cheap, comfortable, and do the job.

However, there can be a couple pitfalls...
-Schedules are thin, maybe only a single departure a day, a few a day on popular rotes.
-Depending on the city/country, their "stations" or stops can be a bit obscure. Many regional bus stations will not allow them space in the main terminal, so they are down the street, more of a bus stop, with a small sign indicating a stop, rarely any seating.
-Traffic can create havoc with their schedule, especially if your departure is a stop on a long route. I have had buses up to an hour late, maybe more late departures than on-time, better luck if you are boarding at the first stop.
-With no "Office" or ticket window, information is limited to the app, which I have found lacking, even the "updates" or status of your bus seems to give inaccurate or flat out wrong information (The app recently told us there was a 45 Minute delay and the bus was far away, we went to sit someplace, it updated in 15 minutes, and told us the bus already had left)

That said, if they were the best route option, I would use them again, but if a train gets me there in about the same fashion, I will choose train over Flixbus (or any bus).

I used Flixbus once in Portugal and based on a commenter on this forum, reserved the front right side seat so I'd have a view during the drive. I would not do that again. While being in the front made it easy to get on and off and made me feel less claustrophobic-y, my driver was in training, with another more experienced driver next to him. I saw us literally scrape through a toll lane and a parking lot exit and saw us get too close to a few trucks! That's of course an unusual situation, but it sure had an impact on me. Nonetheless, I'd definitely use Flixbus again. I'd just cross my fingers for an experienced driver!

Yes yes yes! Sometimes the posted stop is hard to find.

Op here. Again thanks for the information!
I'm fortunate the the Flixbus leaves from the Trieste autostaionaze, next to Trieste centrale train station and arrives at the bus station in Ljubljana, which is also next to the train station.
I decided to book my return from Ljubljana to Venice airport departure with Flixbus also, a direct non stop.
As a train afficionado I have discovered that the train is not always the best option.
Travel is always a learning experience!

We booked Flixbus from Ljubljana to Venice last September. It was easy to find and they sent us pictures of the parking space just in case we didn't see it. I was surprised to find it was a van and not a bus. In any case, the drive was smooth and quick. We will book Flixbus in the future when available.

We used FlixBus in the opposite direction last fall. There was only one train a day, and it was at a really strange time. The bus was fast, convenient and inexpensive.
