Flix bus line

Does anyone have any experience with Flix bus line? It seems cheap, direct and full of amenities such as bathrooms and wifi. Is it really as good as it sounds?

Hi,

"...as good as it sounds?" But, of course. Have you seen German buses that go from city to city, say Berlin to Amsterdam, or Berlin to Budapest, etc, etc., they are impressive. Don't compare with Greyhound, it's a night and day difference. As regards to price, the cost is cheaper than going by train. I have taken buses going from city to city in Poland, Sweden, France, Germany...all rides were enjoyable and satisfactory...nothing like Greyhound.

They are worse and far less comfortable than trains. Avoid when there are faster or equal-time train services.

Furthermore, the low prices tend to attract crowds that, relatively to the average train passenger, are less well behaved - as with any rock-bottom price service competing with more established/expensive ones.

You mean young people (on a budget)? This looks like an other good-value long distance intercity bus. I take a bus just like this (it's called Bolt) to NYC for a fraction of the cost of an overpriced Amtrak train ($30 round trip from Washington DC vs. over $100), and I love it. I wouldn't be deterred...give it a try on a short trip before writing it off. Yes, the prices are very low (they give the best prices for early reservations) but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the bus or the passengers. The bus may not be as comfortable as a train (it does sit in traffic, so it's not as efficient), but if the price is competitive, then it's a worthy trade-off. There's a bus like this in Poland (where I'm from)...it's called Polski Bus. It works very well for many people...I say give this bus a shot, especially if you're on a budget.

I'm not worried about the people, I just want to be sure that there are working toilets and wifi like they say! It's a direct ride for the trip that I'm taking (unlike the train), for a fraction of the price.

I just took it twice in the past two weeks, from Frankfurt to Colmar and then from Colmar to Karlsruhe. It was cheap, and as comfortable as 2nd class on a regional train. The crowd was mostly younger people with a few older, but no one was rowdy or rude or anything. I liked it because especially on the first trip I would have had to change trains, but there were no changes on the bus. The first one was right on time. The second was an hour late. Traffic can cause that. I was able to easily see when the bus was expected on the app. I didn't use the toilets but plenty of people did so they seemed to work. I saw the wifi but decided not to log on because it isn't a secure connection.

We used one from Vienna to Bratislava (only about an hour). I would for sure choose train, especially for a long journey. But the bus was fine. The wifi worked in one direction, not in the other. Not sure about the bathroom as we had such a short journey. Relatively comfy, for a bus. :)
