I am now wishing that I extended my euro visit by a day or two... I will be leaving amsterdam the morning of may 23 and was planning to go toparis via train and stay the night and catch my flight the next day at 130pm. I was wondering if its a good idea to stay somewhere else(on the way like belgium) for a night and take an early train into paris the day of my flight home or I should stick to the plan.

... we've arranged our trips so we didn't have to rush... and at other times we've played it so close that we had to dash frantically almost everywhere... It's a matter of deciding what you really prefer, right? We recommend you stick to your plan and fit in those other places when you return on another trip ... and you will be back, sooner or later. bon voyage! P

Wouldn't you rather spend an afternoon and evening in Paris? You should have time to go to one of the museums or walk along the Seine!

If your return flight home leaves at night (7PM or later) and you are prepared to catch an early morning train back into Paris from Belgium that day, then you should be fine. If it's an afternoon flight, I probably wouldn't chance it in the event there is a delay with the trains - especially since you should give yourself a full 3 hours for check-in/security prior to departing on an international flight.
