First time travelersto Paris

My husband and I (age early 60's, but very young at heart) will be spending 3 nights in Paris in mid-April and wanted to find a comfortable, clean and convenient place to stay that was also affordable ($150 per night or so.) I've heard good things about Hotel du Champ de Mars. Any other suggestions? Is the area convenient? Thanks!

Area is very convenient, it's the Rue Cler neighborhood. Rick's favorite. Personally, I like the Hotel Muguet. On a side street in the same neighborhood. It's located in between 2 Metro stops, La Tour-Maybourg and Ecole Miltaire, nice rooms, get one overlooking the courtyard, safe locale, and free wifi. That said if you have any mobility problems please note the elevator is teeny (pack accordingly, I travel with a carryon) and the stairs steep. Been staying there for years so I'm biased. Read Tripadvisor reviews. Lastly, skip their breakfast table. So much more enjoyable strolling round Rue Cler in the early morning hours and finding your own paris cafe.

Congrats on taking your first trip to Paris...my fav city! As far as that area being convenient, that depends. What do you plan to do in your limited time in the city? I have stayed in that area (Hotel du Cadron, across the street from Horel du Champ de Mars) and found that although it is close to the Eifel Tower it is not close to most other tourist sites. I have stayed 2 times in the Latin Quarter (5th arrondissement) and it was itching walking distance of many more places. In my opinion, I think it is best to stay in the 4th, 5th or 6th to be more more central. Have a good trip!

If you are considering Hotel du Champ de Mars email them through their website ASAP. I was considering staying there the first week of April (though granted the week before Easter and through Easter weekend). I contacted them several weeks ago and they were already booked up.

I think any of Rick's recommended Paris hotels will be fine for you but you should book them now, if it is not already too late. Otherwise, go to the TripAdvisor website and look at their ratings/pictures/comments about Paris hotels.
Good Luck. I know you will find a good place and enjoy Paris!
