Hello everyone!
I’ve been dreaming of and saving for my first-ever solo trip to Europe this coming spring, and I’m finally starting to solidify my plans. After reading so many helpful threads here, I’ve built a rough itinerary focusing on a mix of iconic cities and hoping for a few quieter, scenic moments.
I would be so grateful if some of the experienced travelers here could take a look and share their thoughts. Does this pace seem manageable, or am I trying to fit in too much?
Here’s my tentative plan:
Days 1-4: Rome (Focus on the major ancient sites and just soaking in the atmosphere)
Days 5-7: Florence (Art, Uffizi Gallery, and a potential day trip to Tuscany)
Train to the Alps (This is the part I'd love specific advice on – I'm dreaming of mountain scenery but not sure of the most straightforward base for a traveler without a car)
Days 8-10: Swiss Alps (Considering a base like Lauterbrunnen or Mürren for hiking and stunning views)
Days 11-13: Paris (Museums, walking along the Seine, and enjoying the café culture)
Day 14: Fly home from Paris
My main questions are:
Does the logistics of traveling from Florence to a Swiss Alpine town in one day seem too rushed?
For a first-timer in the Alps in late spring, would you recommend one of the bases I mentioned, or is there another you think is more suitable? I was looking at the official tourism site for the Jungfrau Region to check opening dates for lifts and trails, which was really helpful. You can find it here: https://gbwadown.com/id/. Is this a reliable source for planning, or are there other resources you'd suggest?
I know I'm skipping a lot, but does this overall route feel logical?
I’ve found the collective wisdom on this forum to be incredibly valuable, and I appreciate any guidance you can offer to help make this trip a smooth and memorable one. Thank you in advance for your help!
