My name is Arizona and I came across Rick's YouTube channel back in March and knew that I would have to travel Europe someday. After some family friends from Austria came to visit not too long ago I decided that next summer would be the perfect time to travel. The trip will consist of my family and I and we plan to fly from California to Vienna and stay in Europe for 3-4 weeks in the summer of 2016 (most likely 3). The current rough draft for our trip is to get a rental car in Vienna and drive to St Polten where our friends live. The planned itinerary goes as follows:
Hallstatt
Salzburg
Venice
Trieste
Ljubljana
Budapest
(And return to Vienna to fly home)
I want this trip to be reasonably thought out and be able to enjoy each location without feeling rushed for time. My biggest question is if I am able to squeeze in a trip to Schwangau, Germany in between Salzburg and Venice to visit Neuschwanstein Castle. Is it possible to visit all of these locations in a 3 week period? Would I be able to go to Schwangau as well? And is my family better off renting a vehicle in Vienna or taking buses and trains for the entire venture? Any and all input is greatly appreciated. I still have about a year for this trip and want to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible.
