Finding an old WWII house in Paris

My father stayed at a big home for rest/relaxation during WWII in the Paris area. I do not have an address, only a district and a stop near the Metro. Any ideas how to find this home(it was owned by a Parisian and turned over to the the US Army)when we visit in June? It is near the Pont de Neuilly metro stop in the Bois de Boulogne district.

Do you have pictures? Do you know his military unit down to the company level? You need to contact local (Paris) historians who could have detailed records of the various areas. Also contact the US Military history (I think Library of Congress) who would have access to daily reports from that period. If he was on R & R then it should in his military period where he was during that time period. You do not move in the Army with orders. Unless you have some good information to start it will take some time.

Is your father still living? Might he recognize it via the street view option on Google Maps?

Jim, If your father has passed you can request a copy of his military records which will give you some information you can use. Start with: National Personnel Records Center Military Personal Records 9700 Page Avenue St. Louis, MO 63132-5100 The people there are extremely halpful. You may be directed to correspond with: U.S. Army Human Resources Command ATTN:AHRC-PDC 200 Stovall Street Alexandria, VA 22332-0482
(ph. 703 325-0354) There was a fire in the St. Louis center in the 1970s and some records were damaged or lost. So to start, contact the St. Louis center. If you know his military unit you may do a computer search for that unit. I have found the daily location of a unit during the Battle of the Bulge. Many units have, or had, veterans organizations and they have put lots of information on the internet. Let me know if I can help further.
