Is it possible to take a ferry Rome to Sorrento in late September? Must you stop & change ferry in Naples?
There is no such service Rome to Naples by ferry
To get to Sorrento from Rome, you need to take a train to Naples and then a bus or taxi to the port to catch a ferry, or switch trains in Naples and take a different train to Sorrento.
Rome isn't on the sea.
Well, you could do it. It would be a bit of an adventure and might take more than a day. There is a ferry from Flumicino to Olbia and then from there to Naples and then to Sorrento. You would only do that if you were very interested in taking a ferry but it is a possibility. I think you will find that the train is easier.
Wow. Well done, Frank! Who would have thunk it??!!
Still, I would imagine it takes considerable time.
The only problem with the string of ferries idea is that by the time you could reach the coast at Fiumicino and board the ferry (Rome is well away from the coast) you could be arriving in Naples by train. The fast trains to Naples only take 70 minutes.
I didn't say it was quick. It could take a day or more. Years ago there was a ferry from Civitavecchia to Naples but it is gone.
