Hello all.
I am a late twenties female who will be going on RS Alpine Europe tour this summer. After the tour we plan on going to London for a few days. At this point in our trip, my boyfriend will be flying home, but I decided to stay and complete my first solo trip! I will be staying another 12 days (day one is in London), and am trying to figure out an itinerary, flying out of Paris on the 13th day.
I was thinking of training to Brussels and spending a day there, then Bruges for a few nights, followed by Amsterdam and a couple days in Paris.
I was thinking three days each in Amsterdam and Paris, with a travel day in between. And then split the rest of the time between Bruges and Brussels.
I am looking for any suggestions on alternative destinations, along with any knowledge on traveling alone. I am also looking for transport and hotel/hostel suggestions. I am on a budget since this is a longer trip. I do not mind hostels, but do not want to stay at a big party hostel!
All help is much appreciated :)
Your plan sounds great. You could base in one city in Belgium and daytrip to the others, for example, Gent is between Brugge and Brussels. Three or four days in Belgium to enjoy the chocolate, beer and waffles! And a great country for traveling solo (I did it last year).
You could spend five nights in Paris and perhaps take a couple of daytrips, and spend the rest of your time in Amsterdam.
Consider flying EasyJet from London to Amsterdam, so that your train travel is all southbound from there, without backtracking. Brussels-Paris train tickets (or Eurostar from London) are cheapest when reserved about 3 months in advance of your travel date, so you should be able to book them now. Shorter train rides can be arranged as you go.
