In the past I did take a cheap yoga mat and ended leaving it in Europe so that I could have more packing room in the return trip. In lieu of doing the same thing again, I am wondering if anyone has a travel yoga mat that they love and recommend?

While I don't take a yoga mat for travel, I have seen people with rolled up mats that were "strapped to the outside of their luggage." ('Picture' a camping backpacker)
What I observed was mostly large rolling duffles or large back packs. I noticed that through TSA and the Gate Agents, those passengers were not questioned. Of course, it may vary with TSA or Gate Agents at certain airports.

Fast forward to 27:20. She shows how to attach her yoga mat. That is similar to what I saw with a few at the airport.
