Favorite hotel in Weggis Switzerland?

The first time at Hotel Central Am See and the second at SeeHotel Gotthard, and I left a review of both on Tripadvisor. If you want a top-notch experience in Weggis then stay with the family run SeeHotel Gotthard. They are absolutely fantastic with the best restaurant in all of Weggis hence the very high ranking on TripAdvisor. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g198850-d276250-Reviews-SeeHotel_Gotthard-Weggis.html The Central Am See, on the other hand, has a beautiful location, mediocre food and absolutely unfriendly workers. Don't be fooled by the beautiful pictures of the Am See.

Thanks! That's just the specifics I was hoping for. Actually, these two are about the same price with pretty good ratings. We are not committed to staying in Weggis, but love the idea of staying right on the water. After busy days, it's a lovely way to wind down, enjoying a beautiful view.. The first part of our trip will include three days in Murren. Can't wait! We will be at the Alpina. Please tell me that's a good choice! We live in touristy Florida and always feel bad for tourists that booked blindly at the "not so great places" when they could have nailed it only two doors down!

Well Diane, it appears we travel on similar routes. We stayed at the Alpina in Mürren this past June, too. The Alpina is just fine and the family that runs the place is very nice. I would suggest to NOT go half-board with them even though the price is very very good. Their food is OK, but there are lots of other restaurants around the area so don't lock yourself to the same hotel restaurant every night. I should also add that Weggis is one of our favorite places and the SeeHotel Gotthard's outside dining area is right on the lake just like the Central Am See. The Gotthard's guests also get to enjoy the lakefront pool at the neightboring hotel. I just can't say enough good things about the Gotthard. Hope you have a great time.
