Sandi, I have only taken tours with Fat Tire,,, so can't compare the two companies from personal experience. I have however taken all the Fat Tire tours in Paris( over five trips ), and the one in London,, so I am definately a fan.
The one thing I really really liked about FT was that the bikes do in fact have fat tires,, good for cobblestones and curb mountings, the seats are big and soft, and the frames have shocks,, so its a comfy ride.

I liked all my tours, but definately had favorites,, which tour are you considering? For the city I really enjoyed the Night bike tour,, as it included a boat cruise, and wine( cheap crap in a plastic cup,, but hey its like sipping ambrosia while you float down the Seine) . I also recommend you do it near beginning of your visit, as guides will point out a few sites you may wish to visit but hadn't considered.

For the daytrips I loved the one to Giverny,, and I am not even a Monet fan... the path was so lovely, and it was just a nice laid back day in the country. I enjoyed the one to Versailles, but found I wish we had more time,, however, I was aware of what we were missing, having been to Versialles many times before, my friend who was with me had never been, and she thought it was perfect( since she had no idea that we had missed some sites) .

Anyways, I know sometimes people think the group size is an issue, but I have never thought so, frankly I found riding in the pack felt safer( the cars can't hit all of us at once, LOL ) and the guides are genuiely nice and super helpful.

We took two tours with Fat Tire Tours in Paris with our teenage daughters ~ the evening Paris tour (our favorite!!) and the Versailles tour. Both were AWESOME and highlights of our trips.

Didn't do Fat Bike, but choose Bike About Tours instead, so can't really compare. We really enjoyed it, they show you some things that are more off the beaten track. Our tour guide, Pamela was a lot of fun. They also give you a list of restaurants, areas to hang out, etc at the end of the tour which was very helpful to us during the rest of our stay in Paris. I would recommend Bike About!
