Is 4-5 days good enough for Faroe island? I can add a couple more days if needed. If anyone have already done Faroe islands could you please share your itinerary? Thank you!
I think 4-5 days that is good. We were only there for 3 nights due to flight schedules (flew in from Iceland and flew out to Edinburgh on Atlantic Airways).
Do a search, a similar question was asked a few months ago.
Four to five days is good. I was there for four nights and I'm hoping to go back.
When I was there in 2016, tourism was not that big. However, three new hotels have opened in the last few years--including a Hilton--so it's definitely picking up.
The hardest part is getting there. The only daily flights are from Copenhagen. Two to three days a week are flights from Edinburgh and Reykjavik. Once a week from many other places. It depends on the time of year.
We went last year for three nights and enjoyed it. We stayed in Torshavn and did day trips. We did a Vestmanaa Bird Cliff tour, which was amazing. We also went to Múlafossur Waterfall and the town of Gjógv.
We could have stayed a lot longer because there is so much more to do than just our brief glimpses.
We spent four full days (five nights) there this summer. I’d say to spend just a little more time there than you think you need because the weather can be so rainy or foggy that you need to have some flexibility for downtime in your schedule. I wouldn’t spend any less than three days there on a quick trip and five wouldn’t be too many.
I second the suggestion for boat tours. There are lots of good hiking options, from both gentle to serious. We really enjoyed visiting lots of little churches and old buildings. The whaling museum at an old whaling station was also a surprise hit.
The Faroe Islands were fantastic and I definitely plan to go back. Have a great trip.
Thank you everyone! :)
