Family Trip to Central Europe

We are a family of 4 taking our two teens for their first European trip. We have a tentative itinerary for our 3-week, but would like some input. Prague: 3 days Cesky Krumlov: 2 days ?Salzburg/Hallstat or Vienna: 3 days Bled: 2 days Ljubljana: 2 days Plitvice: 1 or 2 days Istria: Rovinj, Motovun: 3 days Venice: 2 days Questions: -Salzburg vs Vienna: what do you recommend fora family? -Are Bled and Halstat redundant? -Best way to travel from Rovinj to Venice as far as cost and ease: boat vs train
-Renting a car for from Ljubljana to departure from Rovinj: any suggestions?

I would just note that this is a lot of moving around and you don't stay long in any place. You will see more, but also risk being burnt out. Or your teens if not you. Consider cutting out a location you don't care as much about and redistributing the days.

Hi Lisa, I can only chip in with a few things here: - I believe that your best bet for getting from Rovinj to Venice would be the ferry. - As for the rental car, you may want to consider taking the train from Ljubljana to Zagreb and picking up the car in Zagreb. I suggest this because most (all?) car rental agencies will charge a huge fee if you pick up a car in one country and drop it off in another. On the other hand, since there are 4 of you then you'll want to price out how much the train would cost versus just sucking up the inter-country drop-off fee. - Lastly, unless you are serious hikers, one full day in Plitvice would be sufficient. Good luck!

You are trying to see to many places.....you need to take into consideration travel between each place. It will take 1/2 day to a whole day to get to locations. I would drop a few places, like another post mentioned you will see a lot but will get burned out moving around so much.
