Check out The Inverleith Hotel. They have two family rooms. I stayed there several times in the past and liked the location and the people. It's near the Royal Botanic Gardens so you're down the hill from everything. I found that I would get a day pass for the bus. I'd take it up in the AM, walk back before dinner, and then maybe take the bus up again if I wanted dinner on the Royal Mile. It takes you a bit out of the hubbub without losing easy access. And the gardens are lovely. There's a pub nearby and other restaurants. You can also get to Leith. Pam

Do you need four beds or a room for four persons? If the latter, and without knowing your price range, in Edinburgh, check out No. 53 Frederick St. It's conveniently located, the owners were pleasant and helpful. The family room that we stayed in i very large, and easily fit the four of us - one double bed and two singles. Breakfast is served in the restaurant area of the hotel next door; it was delicious. In London, we stayed at the Lime Tree Hotel, in Belgravia, quite close to Victoria Station. The room was quite small, but again, one double and two singles, and we had enough room. The garden out back was nice, as was the breakfast. Enjoy!
