Family friendly Christmas market river cruises

I am planning a Christmas market river cruise for 2024. We will be taking my 6 year old with us. Has anyone been on any of the family oriented cruises? We have sailed with Amawaterways but I was wondering if Uniworld or Tauck might be better with a kid. Amawaterways has the partnership with Disney but the itinerary looks mostly adults oriented with a couple of things for the younger kids. Any thoughts or real life experiences?

I’ve been researching river cruises, and I really don’t think there are any that cater to kids. They aren’t like ocean cruises with kids’ programs, etc. I would think of the more like a bus tour, but you sleep on a boat. Everyone eats at the same time, leaves on the bus for excursions at the same time, has to be on board at a certain time, etc. my big concern would be if they even gave rooms that sleep 3. Maybe if a sofabed works for you.

I’ve visited relatives on board River cruise ships and it’s the purview of older folks. When I lived in Germany my neighbor with two kids commented that those cruises are for old people. Maybe child friendly exists but it’s news to me. Hope you find something.

Perhaps Cruise Critic would be a better resource than the Forum. Good luck!
