Face Mask Vending Machines

I was reading an article where vending machines are now selling face masks because wearing them is compulsory on public transport. So I wondered where else they had these unique machines. I found Poland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Thailand. Japan, the king of vending machines has been selling face masks in vending machines for years.

Do you know of anywhere else?

On a related topic, some U.S. airlines are not only requiring their flight attendants to wear a mask but are handing them out to passengers.

I saw a picture of a machine in Berlin in an article (WaPo or NYTimes I think) this morning. The ones in Berlin were washable, not disposable.

The front page of today's Wall Street Journal has a photo of one in Berlin. It doesn't say if it is reusable or disposable. But reusable makes sense.

I caught a snippet of this on the news the other night — the video they showed was from Poland, as you mentioned.

We don't have vending machines here in Switzerland, nor are we required to ware masks at present. Although it seems the consensus is that most people intend to ware then on public transport, like in Germany.

We can order them in packs of 50 disposable ones from a government website. My wife ordered some after midnight on Sunday and they were in the mailbox on Tuesday morning.

That's impressive, Jim. But then... it's Switzerland.

The cover of yesterday‘s Wall Street Journal had a photo of a Berlin vending machine front and center.

Brilliant.

I need to find one of those machines. Starting tomorrow I can't go into any shops w/o a face mask.

Robert, I have been trying to figure out your governor’s four step plan to reopen businesses and organizations in Maine.

Can summer sleepaway camps still be open for business this year? How can each of the thousands of children from other states be quarantined for 14 days advance of arrival at camp? We also wanted to spend several days in the Portland area around Memorial Day weekend and at the end of July. Looks like we can’t for the same Quarantine reasons.

I didn’t think Maine got hit very hard with the virus. Did something change?

Things you don't expect to see in vending machines !

This reminded me of seeing several vending machines in the Far East (pretty sure it was Hong Kong) that had individual ears of corn on the cob - just that, nothing else. I never saw anyone eating it, though.

Continental, the 14 day quarantine issue might be the most contentious part of our Governor's actions. Tourism, especially Summer tourism, is probably the principal economic engine for Maine, and between the quarantine and some other aspects (such as restaurant closures and cancelled events), Maine could be in big trouble. It may be that there will be some reconsideration of the quarantine rule, not that I have any inside information.
As to how hard Maine got hit by the virus, I'm not positive, but I think it's about in the middle on a per capita basis. A major factor here is the proximity to major population areas that have been hit hard (Boston, NY, NJ). People from those regions make up a large percentage of visitors to Maine. It's one of the reasons for the quarantine. And for other measures, like the fact that golf courses were allowed to open today, but only for Maine residents for at least a month.
