I am traveling alone to Paris in October and want to enjoy an evening dinner tour on the Seine....any recommendations?
Don't. Others will elaborate.
I'm going to throw in my 2 cents worth and go run for cover from the dinner cruise haters: I took my Mom this past October and we had a blast. It was our first night in Paris (although we have been before) and it set a great mood for the trip. The food isn't the best but the wine/champagne is plentiful. We took the boat with the live band and dancing which was fun. If you are a budget traveler, it may bother you what you spend vs. what you get, but if you don't mind a splurge, go for it. My Mom is only in her 50's but has slight mobility issues so it was a great way for her to get a quick tour of the town. Everyone here will tell you it's not worth the $, and that is probably true for a lot of people.
Since it will not be dark out during the dinner cruise to see Paris lit up and others say the food is not good -why waste your time and money? Why not take the shorter cruise during the day in between sightseeing? You will get some of the BEST pix of the Eifel Tower!
'Since it will not be dark out during the dinner cruise' Mid-October sunset is at about seven, twilight will end and hour later. Dinner cruises start as late as nine.
I like the cruise that starts right around sunset, then you see the city change as dusk descends and the lights go on. . . . Same goes for the view from the Arc de Triomphe. Dinner is better and cheaper almost anywhere else.
